How Coastal
Offroad started

Coastal Offroad was founded in 2017 by Brandon Faliszewski, a mechanical engineering grad from the University of Victoria, BC. Designed in Victoria and Vancouver, BC, our roots remain grounded in the Pacific Northwest—where true backcountry driving demands gear that actually holds up.

The idea for Coastal Offroad was sparked while Brandon was using bumpers from the big box brands. When driving more difficult trails and trying to keep up with built solid axle vehicles, he found he would repeatedly get stuck due to the limitations of his current bumpers. While these bumpers were considered the industry standard at the time, they were made from thinner steel and had terrible approach angles. Instead of helping the vehicle clear obstacles, they would dig into the ground and flex into the vehicle body - resulting in damage to the vehicle and also getting it stuck!

Brandon figured that there must be a better way. While searching for other options out there, he found other bumpers that were slightly better but still fell short in many areas. While they were at least made from proper gauge steel, they had lackluster ground clearance, high prices, and eye-watering lead times that stretch on for months.

His solution was the high clearance DIY weld together bumper kit.

in-house

Built In-House.
No Lead Time Excuses.

Our mission is simple: provide fellow off-roaders with affordable armor that looks great, provides the best possible performance and ground clearance, and ships quick. Like really quick!

In the past, armoring up your 4x4 could be achieved via two basic paths. The first was to order pre-fab bumpers from one of the many online stores out there. This would involve a high initial cost followed by lengthy wait times that could be several months to begin with, and then often stretch out even further with delays and lead time “updates”. Some of these companies have even gone bankrupt in the meantime, leaving those waiting customers out of their money and their bumpers after months of false promises.

The second option was to find a local fabricator to make some custom one-off bumpers. This option would often be a gamble in its own way, where the end result often wouldn’t match the expectations either due to shoddy design work or poor craftsmanship. Not to mention the all-too-common scenario of unexpected additional costs that run into the stratosphere, as that’s just the way that any type of custom work often goes.

This is where Coastal Offroad fills the gap. You order a DIY bumper kit that has been designed over multiple iterations and then continuously tweaked and updated over time as we learn and receive feedback from our customers. We cater directly to our customers’ needs by allowing you to put your own custom touches on your build—whether that be custom light mounts, aesthetic cut outs, or custom attachments for your swing outs.

Every kit is produced fully in-house in our facilities using modern laser cutting and CNC-bending machines. No one else offers this level of customization while still shipping right away. And, it shows up at your door within days, not months! Yes you still have to weld it together, but the bumper is in your hands and ready to assemble on your own time.
